Henchmen #1 (Robot Paper)

Rating: 4/5 – A thinking henchman, how about that?

This book exists because of a successful Kickstarter campaign and is now being offered on a wider basis.  It’s available on the web-site linked above for $3.99 as a digital download or you can pre-order the  print copy (scheduled for release on Aug 9th) and get the digital download thrown in for free.  You can also get a free preview of the comic if you sign up for the mailing list.

What’s a down on his luck guy supposed to do who needs a job and sees an ad offering “Full benefits. Competitive wages. Easy money.”  What if that job is as a henchman for a mid-level bad guy “The Head Pin”?  Merriment ensues.  Gary is that most dangerous of things, a thinking henchman.  There’s apparently never been one before.

This is a situation comedy comic, so just roll with the set-up and appreciate the quirky, witty narration and situations as they come. My main complaint is that it felt short even though it clocked in at 35 pages.  I’m faced with a double-edged sword.  I want another issue but I’m not sure how long it will be before we see another issue.  A common problem with smaller creator-owned books
